I had the honor to receive the note which you addressed to me the 8th inst., as well as the 2 Nos of the "China Mail" inclosed therein, rel. to the burning of the ship "Don Juan", which sailed from Macao with a cargo of coolies, and wherein you request that steps may be taken in order to prevent the repetition of such horrors.
I have communicated to the Minister of Marine the contents of your note, as I had done with respect to the previous notes on the same subject, & I await H. Ex's reply, which shall be communicated to you.
