THE CASE ADAINET TROUSERS, " The time has come," said Mr. Vincent yeu terday with suitable solemnity; and doing bis very best to dowie a twinkle in his eye, "to strike a savore blow at all trousers.
1 Bm proud and glad to think that the opportunity has been given into my unworthy bandı.
Some of the reasons that Mr. Vincent ad- vanced for the abolition of trousers ware that they were unhygienic, inartistic, effeminising,
"It is a notable fact," he want on," that whenever a man achieves distinction in the They are essentially the garment of the Court," world of sport or politics, ha dons breaches,

On the other, hand it is impossible to deny the fact that study of trouser legs, as seen in the photographs of our most noted man, brings the smile of con tempt from even the most disinterested Indeed, coe wonders if there could be anything aglier than the concertina folds of the clumsy elephantine outlines that are there to be seas. A HOW IT SHOULD DEA: A Great to the ancient world, continued Mr. Vin cont, waxing warmer and warmer, "society was divided into two classes the Trousered and the Uatrousered. URGENT SIGNAL
No, the origin of trousers is lost. I cau only refer you to the elephant. They were re introduced into the world during the, Franch Revolution of 1789. England, however, stack out against them for, some years after. They were not allowed to be worn at Cambridge as fate as 18tz, though Oxford gave way two yours In addition to the above, when it is expected before. But in 1814, we have the Duke of that the wind may increase to fall typhoon Wellington refused admittance to exclusiva Almack's because he wore trousers, He had to go back with a very sour face and change into breeches. But he worked hard for the introduce tion of trousers, and is the ad he won a vic- tory which can only be compared with that of Waterloo.
ASKED IN ALL, SERIQUENESS, "Personally, I think our debate will 'cause the question to be asked in all seriousness, Why wear tronses? There is, a tendency "at the "present"tinio, and I know in abedilitely, to adopt breeches and knickerbockers more universally. And most of the West-end tailors will tell you the same thing,
