Assistance was cat- led for and on cl ser examination it was found that the foreigner, was Mr. Richard Markwick, who had for many years been employed by the Insurance Company. Blood was issuing from the maub, nose and..ears, and at the side of the bidy was a six- chambered revolver. "Mr. Marwick was un conscious, but was still breathing, and "was' carried to the top of the stairs by Mr. Kitaler and Mr. J. C. Burgess, Dr. Grade, medical director of the Company; was immediately sum moned, by telephone," but the injured man was then beyond the powerof medical assistance and 's few minutes after the arrival of the doctor he expired. The deceased was in Hongkong in 1951 and had been in resident of Shanghai since 1883. Almost from the time that the China Mutual Insurance. the exception of a few days. Witness did not know the nature of the illness. He Àid not bear_the_revolver"sbo", but was called im. mediately afterwards and saw the body. He telephoned immediately for Dr. Goode, He was called by Mr. Kitaler, who had tried to carry the deceased to the head of the sair case.
