'BETRAYED WOMAN'S DRAMATIC ACTION AT
MISSION MENTING..
As immense congregation in the Union Mission Hall, Chicao, a night or two ago
·ware witnesses of a mosi, dramatic scene. They' had come to listen to a preacher who for years bas conducted missing meetiügs in all parts of the country.
On this occasion he was indulging in ki stock exhortation to sinners to come forward and "lay down thair burden of sla" in order that they might be forgiven.

Among the penitente wis a young women, The preacher did not notice her until he heard ker exclaim: "Here's your little burden of sin.” As she spoke she placed at bis feet a bundle from which came the pathetic wail of an infant. "Bare is your child," the woman saidi̟ you would not support it; and I cannot support it|| ady longer."
The meeting was lo a tumult. The women
· present raised the baby, to whose cloiber was pinned the following note:-"The father of this Infant is one of the leading men in your work. I love my baby better than fifa itself and have tried to keep it, but cannot. The father re- fuses to help me.. What can I do?" A slg- nature followed.

While the pole was being read the mother disappeared. The preacher turned to the dia- pening congregation. "The woman templed me, be quoted, "and 1 fell, I have been a backslider, but am whole again, and have re- turned to the Christian life" But the congre gation streamed out with nothing but looks of scora for the man to whom they had listened so devoutly a short while before,—Lloyds.
