MILVER COINS IN BORMOSA,
PROHIBITION-OF IMPORT. [From a Correspondent.]
Taipeh, 22nd October. Since November last, there has been a big loux of silver coins lato Formosa, to the great. detriment of the capm'c condition of the island. The authorities have today issued regulations to come into force on the date of isuse, prohibiting import of silver coins. The regulations are as follows:
coins, no matter having the Government mark 1. It is prohibited to import one yen silver or not, in excess of the amount of Yes 100
2. The above applies to foreign silver coins, and 'alio in case one yen and foreign silver coins together amounting to over Ven toolin valne,
3. It is prohibited to import foreign sub sidiary coins over the amount of Yen 3. (This clause has been in force previously.)
4. Impariation at "sogio" (chopped dollars) is prohibited.

A. STREET DRAWL. Yesterday, while a Japanese was passing by the Tsai Lan street, he came across two coolies carrying a heavy storé slung on a pale on their shoulders. The coolie's pole accident- ally touched the bat of the Japanese, knocking it down. The Japanese was greatly incensed at this, and struck the enolie's back with the result that a number of people gathered around and attempted to strike the Japanese. Fortunately Galiyeman was idon on the scooe, who dis- bersed the crowd and escorted the Japanese home, otherwise serious consequences might have ensued,
