TREATMENT.
Ang New York, Sept. 3. Harry Thaw's treatment is again the subject of adverse comment, thanks to the report of the secretary of the State Irison Commission pro testing" "gainst his luxuriaus confinement in Poughkeepsie Jail pending the outcome of the apparently interminablelitigation. It seems that Thaw has a corridor of thirteen cells to himself, with the result that the ordinary prisoners are crowded two in a cell. Meals are sent into bim from a balel, his rooms are full of bouquets from "unlocarcerated female lunatics," and are famished like a luxurious office ; he gets days of practical freedom when he is taken to attend beatings which sever come off; and for "his comfort the life of the prison is dislocated. What, it is asked, is the effect of all this upon a neighbouring pickpocket peering through the bart of this cell, and upon public opinion in general? As the New York Times remarks, if Thaw is not returned without delay to the stylum to which he was committed the ides will become fixed that, being rich, "he-has" privilegen denied to a poor criminal,
