Mr., Danby, who was an architect and civil engineer, was one of the oldest and most popular residents in the Colony. He was about sixty-five years of age. According to Who's Who is the Far East" Mr. Dinby was educated at Loods Grammar School and King's College, London. He was articled as a civil engineer to the Municipal Engineer at Leads, afterwards he was appointed assistant and, subsequently, Deputy Borough Engineer in 1866. He was Chial Resident Engineer, under the late Sir Thomas Hawksley, F.R.S., Fast President to stitute of Civil Engincers; and in 1866 10 1873 he was in charge of the large Washburn ex tension of the Leeds C. W. W. In December, 1873, he was appointed Assistant to the Surveyor Gensial of this Colony, and on arrival here took charge of the detailed surveys and borings for the Tytam water works, and other public works. In February, 1879, he resigned the Government service, and commenced private practice, being chiefly concerned in the erection of sugar refineries and other works connected with the docks. He was elected a lieutenant to the Volunteer Corps in May 1878; appointed J, P. in Jadásry, 1882. He represented the Chinese Government in the settlement of the Shameen Riot Claim in August, 1884.

She is now on her first trip Bangkok, She brought a cargo of over 3,000 tons on her first voyage, having on board a quantity of railway material for the Royal Railway Department and over 6 motor cars. The arrangements for loading and unloading cargo are perfect. The steamer is equipped with a new kind of derricks by which cargo can be loaded or unloaded into the lighters without the difficulty of pushing sideways, and at the same time with less labour. There are four hatches, and a very spacious deck. The raising capacity of the derricks is about 7 tops, but the ship carries a spare one which can raise up to 25 tons.
