Two Indian-Ameer Singh and Sunder Singh were sentenced to six months hard labour each, by Mr. H. H. J. Gompertz,, at the Police Court, to-day, for theft. They were found guilty of robbing a compatriot, by same Beer Singh who has just returned from Canada, of $100 in notes and iwelve sovereigns at the Sikh Temple, of the sih instant. JAMES I WILLIAMS, a hatmaker, of Danbury, Cono,, and his wife have occupied the same house, taken their meals at the same table, and have been in each other's company almost coo tinually for five years without speaking a word to each other. Five years ago (says the Express New York correspondent) they quar relled, and Williams uiada a vow that he would never again speak to his wife. He has kept it religiously; and Mrs. Williams is now suing for. R divorce.

THE importation of sugar into Japan, in anticipation of an increase of the duty has already commenced. According to the AA, the total value of the stock of raw sugar stored in the various booded. Customs warehouse in Osaka at the end of December last amounted to about Y714,700, which increased to Y1,667,200 at the end of last month.
