The regular steamship service opened by the Russian Enst Asiatic Sicamship Company, between Vladí- vostok and Tsuruga and Vladivostok and Shanghai, has been taken over by the Russian Volunteer Fleet steamers, and the East Asiatic Steamship Company, has decided to open a service between Vidivostok and Kobe, Yokohama and Natsu and Hankow. The new service is to be opened shartly by the steamer Baliku
The Japanese Consul has learned from a Russian authority that the Volunteer Fleet steamers will in future be principally used for the Siberian Railway, while the. East Asiatic, steamers will be employed as cargo-carriers be- tween Vladivostok and Japan or China.

D. News 14th inst. The new building, which is rapidly approaching completion, was designed by Messrs. Smedley, Denham and Rose; and erected by the Shanghai Building Co. Operations were begun in April 1906, and two months' delay arise from the necessity of removing the foundations of Messrs. Dent's old hong. The building consists of a ground floor, baseinent, and four upper doors. On the ground (ooor are the Bank's offices, shod the upper storeys will be let as offices to the Hamburg-America Line and other tenants. The bank vaults; strdag rooms; and heating apparatus are in.
