On the 5th instant, a gang of robbers attacked the residence of the present Chinese Consul General at Peru, Lai Leung-fo, in the district of Pansu, and carried away all the valuables they..could lay their hands on. The. robbers are reponed to have intended to kid- nap Lai's son, but fortunately he was absent from home, when the robbery took place. Last year, when Consul Lai was at his home in lunyu, on home leave, a case of robbery took place at his house.
