Kabeiram Ribjumud e. Pohoomul Brothers, involving 500,00 pesos, was again ou trial yesterday in the Count of First Instance, reports the Manila Cabinets of 11th inst. The plaintiff's claim they were partners of Pohoomul Brothers, two of whom are now dead, and that one of the brothers, Gaganmala Ribjumal, the surviving brother, who was at one time a clerk in the firm, came to Manila and started a suit in January, 1905. He claimed that he had an interest in the firm to the amount of P500,000 and now asks f ra division of the firm's assets the Hongkong branch. The case has been First Instance. It was begun with Judge Cross- field and continued by Judges Sweeny, Araullo, Norris, Lobingier and Gilbert. A mation for a receivership was presented five times, the last being successful. LAST Wednesday evening a Chinese woman, made two attempts to commit suicide in the bar bour The woman, a widow, residing in Wing Fung Street, jumped into the harbour from the Praya East and was rescued by some sampan people and taken ashore. She dived into the sea again and was fished out and taken to the police station. When asked why she attempt ed to take her life, the woman told Inspector Gourlay that she was tired of living. During the past week, the said, she had beed looking for her sister-in-law and had not found her; she did not want to live any longer. On Thursday morning at the Police Court she was charged before Mr. Orgie with attempting suicide. The widow's brother, a motorman, employed by the Tramway Company, undertook to send his sister home and she was discharged, with a caution.
MOK MUN, a sailor, employed on board the West River steamer Chan Po, died suddenly this morning (18th inst.), at West Point, under .. tragic circumstances. At about seven o'clock to-day Mak and two other sailors left the ship and went to a tea shop in Queen's Road West where they had some refreshment. On his way back to the ship Mok complained of feel- ing ill. In Wilmer Street he collapsed. In specter Fenton sent an ambulance to the spot. Mok died on the way to hospital.
