Rangoon:-It would seem as if latterly japanese owners had in this direction accepted. low rates again for large boats for Japan, we find such inquiry is no longer traceable locally. in its slead there are inquiries now Rangoon to Shanghai, small sizes, (about to shillings. per also Rangaon, to Amoy or Fauchow. The North-The next fortnight ought to see the first charters of the season done from Newchwang; nothing positive could be said as yet concerning opening rates.
Coal Freights-Cnal freights from Japan are higher. Latest fixture in London for Maji to this is German 5.5. Maria Rickmers, about 50 tons at $1.30. Considerably better could lately be done here, and $.50 has just been paid. There is further inquiry. From South Japan coal ports to Canton there is also an unfilled demand.
