THE SHIU ON STEAMSHIP COMPANY, LIMITED.

The rioters who gathered at Morayama on Wednesday stole a quantity of saki from the store room and freely indulged in it, sub- sequently setting fire in a spacious store house which in fully stocked with rice, provisions, and oil. As the flames raced furiously the men, mast of whom were intoxicated, shouted and yelled, so that the dis could be heard for miles. The rioters threw dynamite into an ad-o joining oil store, which was blown up with a tremendous report. The flames rapidly spread to the adjoining store-house, and then to a [233powder magazine, which exploded with fright

Referring to circumstances attending the assault or Mr..Minami, head of the mine, one message states that the gentleman, who was taking shelter beneath the verandah of his house, heard the rinters' crp "Set fire! after they had smushed. the furniture and clothing. Atthis, Mr. Minami crawled out to the com. pound, where he found a few men. He begged them to save his life, offering to accede to any demands they might make. These men aliowed. Mr. Minami to go. An omnibus which left Nikko at a o’eleek on Wednesday evening with mails was attacked by a gang of the rinters near the Waiarase bridge, close to Ashio.
