Concerning Saigon :—Regular boats · more · than suffice for what little cargo there is moving between Saigon and thus port; rate is unchang ed at about 12 coorn per picul for small lots, as they pick them up.
Actual chatter there have been only in cos. nection with Philippines business. From the few inquiries that there have been locally: charters have resulted as far as is known of three steamers, rata 21, 22 and 2 cents, accord- ing to size.
From Bangkok to Hongkong the trade hạn no room for outsiders at present.
Java to this is much quieter. Some farther. fixtures for dry and wat'sugar haye bacome known to have been arranged some time ago at 28 cents or thereabouts, but latast telegraphic' information is that tonnage is supplied and that no offers are obtainable. A boat might have a loading of all dry fagar from others than Chinese shippers, though only at very thuch below last paid freights.
Business from the river still continues dead. From Newchwang for Canton, the charter
done locally of the China "avigation Co.'s .. Liang Chow is mentioned, as low as 16 canta, usual part cargo; same Co. has also fixed Ke Shing and Kwaiyang at Shanghai in the like
This steamer, specially built for the tropica, has splendid accommodation for first class passengers. Very large, wall ventiimed cabins, each provided with two beds (no bunks), sofa, table, two wardrobes, two washstands, electric fans, etc., large elegantly furnished saloons smoking room, etc.
.The steamer is lighted throughout by slectricity and carries DoCID, Stewardess and livered after the 12th instant, will be subject to direction, at probably the same rate,
