A salute was fired in honour of the Japanese Admiral.

[According to the latest reports in the Shang hai native papers, it is leor i that, in const- quence of the insufficient strength of the Im perial Chinese troops to cope with the Hung- hutzes in Fengtien, the Peking Goverment has ordered General Ma Yo-koan, provincial commander-in-chief of Chikli, who is now in Jeho with his troops, to take twelve battalions

of his Wu-wei Army Corps to south Manchuria, to assist the men of the 3rd division of the Lu- chun or Peiyarg army recently despatched there by Viceroy Yuan, together with ten battalions of the Huni-chog, or Anhui troops under the command of Tootai Yuan Yun-tai (and of Viceroy Yuan) and Major-General Chang Hun respectively.
