in England the appointment of Baron Komara seems almost certain. Baron Ka mura's relation with England is of most intrumie character, as displayed in the conclu vera of the Anglo-Japanese Alliance, which nccurred twice while he held the portfolio of the Foreign Office. The Baron enjoys a large measure of confidence among the British people, and therefore his intended appointment will no doubt be received with satisfaction by the Japanese as well as by the British.
Viscount Hayashi is a son of Dr. Sato Taizen, a noted Dutch scholar, and a younger brother of the late Dr. Matsumoto, an Army Surgeon- General. HOW I BEAF MADRALI
HACKENS HMIDT DEYCRÍBES HIS GREAT
WRESTLING FEAT.
Cporges Hackenschmidi defeated Ahmed adrill in .3 contest for the wrestling championship of the world at Olympia on Saturday (April 29), winning the two folle out 2 of three in pain. 345 c. In an interview with if Daly Mail representative the winner thus describes the contest:
When "time" was called for the first round I looked round at any seconds, and then stepped out to what I knew was to be the battle of my life.
As I faced the Turk I saw grim determina. tion written all over his face, and then tha quick, sharp fat began in earnest. We were soon at grips. Almost at once I got a neck hold on Madrali, and as put forth all my strength I seemed to hear his teeth rattle together, until Imost thought 1 had broken them,
Then I g my opposent down, and with a "hammer-lock" get the first fall in miu. 345CC.
"After a gon' rubs down i was soon back in the ring, and we wern tit again almost before I realised i This time Madrali floored me first and remained on top for nearly four minutes.
I cannot g ve Madrali sufficient pase pr this throw
He got me by the leg in a lighte ning-lika movemèni, and I think it was one of the finest grips 1 have ever seen, and I would not hava believed that any man could throw me like that and så quickly.
Having got me down, however, I think Ma- drali made a mistake in releasing the eg-hold for a body-hold. It seemeil to me that during those minutes when he had me clasped round The body he was afraid in let go his grip for fear he might lose his advantage.
While he was on, top, however, Madrali gave me a very rough time, and he caused me con- siderable pain with his kuer in the small of my back and on the calf of my leg, though both these movements are against, the rules of catch-a-catch-ean wrestling.
After a short fime I felt his hold relaxing. and making, a great effort I got him on his back with an arm-roll, which movement I had been scheming for some seconds, and I had won the second fall in four minutes exacily, and the match as well.
MATCH WON' BY TACTICS. The contest was for the best of three fails, but two proved sufficient. Hackenschmidi securing the first in 1 min. 14sec. and the second io 4min. The first was a very simple affair. Madrali tried twice for his favourite leg hold, and overbalancing himself in making the second attempt left Hackenschmidt with an opening, with the result that the Turk was pioned down to the mat almost before he realised that the contest had begun,'
The second bout roused the spectators to a of excitement. Madrali, tendered wiser
