DOWIE AT ZION CITY.

Chicage 8th April. "I am glad to be home again" With these words on his lips, Juhn Alexander Dowie, the deposed leader of the Christian Catholic Church in America, this afternoon stepped within the portals of Shiloh House, thus umpleting his much heralded entry into Zion City, after an absence of several months, during which time he had been deserted by a large part of his followers, and had been stripped of all ecclesiastical authority. Mas, Diwwie, the wile of the "First Apostle," met him in the door of Shiloh House, and gave him hearty wel

come.

|

Dowie's return to Zion City was devoid of all

I pomp and ceremony. Only a handful of 'people were at the station, to get him, and the majority of these were women. Dowie joft the Auditorium unexe, where he had been stopping since his return from Mexico, shortly after 1 o'cinck. He was driven the North. wertern Station, where a private var had been attached to the regular 1 o'clock rain on that road. He was accompanied by several of bs personal attendants. The train i baring Dowie and his party arrived at Zion Cits 1 3.45 pm. About 750 people, the majority of whom were women, were gathered at the sion to mee the "first Apostle." As Dowie alighted from the train he was greet. 1 by shouts of "Peace to thee." He respo...sed with the
