Complainant, who now and agam ad- justed the bandage for fear it might drop uff, said that yesterday afternoon his wife gave him $15, and to celebrate the occasion he invited his friend-the defend it-to a tea-shop to drink tea. Everything went well | alise tea-shop, defendast making the best of his invitation, unul the time arrived tur "equaring up the proprietor for the treat. When com- plainant produced the $15 from his pocket, it seemed to act like magic on the defendant, for he became a changed man. Defendant had never during his acquaintance with the com- plainant saw him in possession of so much inoney, and being a staunch friend o; the com plainant, and not wanking to see any harm be- fall bim, said that complainant had better hand over the banknotes as they would be in sofer keeping with the defendant, Complainant did nal require any gratuitous advice on that oc- casion and proposed to stick in the bills, A agrarrel and a light followed in which complain ant received the wound on his forehead,, and during the scuffle over the tea-table a pot of broiling tea was overturned and defendant received a scalding.
After he had given his evidence, he was asked by the Court where he was struck, The complainant was so amazed by the question, considering that his bandaged head was, to him, sufficient evidence of his rough handling, that he exclaimed "What?" and pointed to his forehead.
The defendant said he also had a thrashing, but did not venture on the question of bank notes, His Worship fined him$3 for the assault.
Dr. Anderson is in charge of the Medical College, as formerly. Three qualified physi cans have been already asked for.
