MOTOR ÇAR ÄMBOLÁNCES. With the appearance of the motor car in our midst, it might be suggested that .it. would be well for those who have the wel- fare of the clitzens of Hongkong in their keeping, to make an effort to provide the Colony with motor ambulances. It is a somewhat needed improvement in the greater efficiency of the Medical Department and its provision must not be delayed if we are still to keep abreast of the times. The

In going to or returning from. call the ambulance will be driven at a smart trot but the unbulance surgeon may; upon his own res sponsibility, direct it to troceed at a fasterful pace. All cases are to be taken to the hospital of the district, in which they are taken up, unless ha the surgeon considers they are more suitable for treatment as a private house, or at the workhouse hospital, or for the custody of the police.
"The ambulance is not intended for the conveyance of medical cases to or from a hospital, but when the house-surgeon is of opinion that, a patient can be moved safely only in an ambulance, and, farther, is not in a position to pay for a private ambulance, he may arder the patient to be conveyed.
"The ambulance is not to bo, sent out of its district unless it is ordered to attend by the Head Constable, in consequence of the am saying the fact that the hand carriages atbulance of the other district being engaged, present in vogue are capable of improve or in a case of an accident with which one am ment. They are often on the spot when balance cannot cope.".
Witis certain modifications, these regulations wanted, but, at the same time, one must might well be adapted by those in control perforce admit that the expeditious medical of the motor ambulances which we hope to treatment so frequently requited is rendered see installed in Hongkong in the near A.
