IN THE WILDS OF AFRICA.
HOW THE NATIVES DISPOSE OF THE OLD
.:FOLK,
News was a few weeks ago received in Lon; don of the progress of Mafor Powell Cotton, who left England last year on an expedition
· from the Nile to Zambesi, which it was expect- ed would occupy about two years.
The explorer has had a good deal of trouble with his caravan, and news of his movements has been delayed by the murder of two of his native, runners. In the middle of June Major Powell: Cotton was in the Congo Free State,
and had reached Buni Camp, on the Mabagh Irumu road. This district,, which' le, at an elevation' of 6,0coft., and 'conitats, of roiling graan bilis, would, the explorer claimi, make an ideal grasing country. The streams and markos are already bridged.
