WHAT IS THE OUTLOOK FOR U IN OUR DECLINING YEARS?
Some time ago we received à communica tion from an elderly gentleman of this city, who, after recounting his experience and that of some of his friends in unsucessful effons to get employment, closed by propounding the fallowing conundrum: ", owing to an age Túnit of 42 years or less, able-bodied and vigo ious men above that age are barred from em. There has not, however, been any new light. There no occasion for any. The matter is clear enough, and everybody understands it. Nobody, however, seems willing to give pain by telling the plain truth.
The fact is that able-bodied men above 40 who are unable to obtain employment are economi. cally defectives. If they were not they would at that age boso placed as to be sure of a livelihood.
