AT Rochford Sessions the other day, Thomas Potter, chief cook on board the 1.1. Goldsmith, was committed for trial on the charge of in- flicting bodily harm on Johann Klingibel and Johann Max Reckara, Aremen, Evidence was that while the vessel was off Canvey Island on- Its way to China a dispute arose between' ac cused and Reckars, the latter of whom was struck over the eye with a long iron spoon, Armed with a knife. Potter, it was alleged, was about to attack Reckart again when Kilngibiel interfered and in the struggle the latter fell to the floor, a bar of iron being used. Reckars was cut on the head with the knife. Klingi- biel was rendered unconscious by a wound gin long on the bead.
