JUST UNPACKED.
FROM THE CITY RUBBER STAMP CO. BEG to inform the public that I have just unpacked a case of" COMPO-LITHOGRAPII," THE TRYPOGRAPH DUPLICATOR, STENCIL PLATES, and an assortment of KURDER ACCES SORIES, have just arrived by the S.S. Banca.
Prices for the TRYPOGRAPH MACHINE ranges from £1 to £10.
The following is a few opinions of the Press for the Trypograph Machine :--
THE "TIMES" says -
"The Trypograph differs in essential res pects from the copying processes now in use. It is capable of producing any number of im. pression all in permanent black, and does not require skilled labour. It is simple. Those who have occasion to issue a circular or many cop'es of a document will find it to their advant
age to give it a trial,"
HTO-DAY" Bays ---
"The Trypograph is the oldest appliance for duplicating hand or typewriting and with its latest improvements, it still holds its own. We have inspected some samples of drawings, music, etc., which look like lithographing'
THE "GROCERS JOURNAL" 3ys:-
"Mr. Zuccato's invention in indeed a per fect system of multiple printing. No roller or inking slab is required, and one stencil will yield hundreds of copies."
"KNOWLEDGE" says —
"A most convenient instrument this, where writing or drawing has to be many times copied. Cheap too and easily used, success being readily attained at a first or second trial, and thereafter systematically."

Her
breast-plate of turquoise and corals is almost hidden by necklaces, and a huge irregular pearl, strongly resembling the "Dudley" jewel in shape, is at last distinguishable in the centre leaf of her crown. Before her burn butter- lamps, and brown mice swarm fearlessly over not resent being stroked on the lap of the god- walls and ficor and altar, so tame that they did dess herself,
deity who is every Thibetan knows, from the Dalai Lama to the peasant in the field---- With this famous image of the guardian
Queen Victoria, the list of treasures in the Jo- was reincarnated during the last century as kang of a special interest to Europeans is per-
conceptions of the features of the Great Tea- cher. Here there is nothing of the saddened smile of the Melancholia who has known too much and has renounced it all as vanity, Here, instead, is the quiet happiness and the quick capacity for pleasure of the boy who had death. It is Gautama as a pure and enger never yet known either pain, or disease, or prince, without a thought for the morrow, or a care for to-day. No doubt the surroundings, which are effective almost to the verge of theatricality, account for much, but this beauti. ful statue is the sunr and climax of Tibet, and as one gazes one knows it and respects the jealousy of its guardians. The legendary his tory of this idol is worth retelling. It is be lieved that the likeness was made from Gauta-haps concluded. But for the Buddhist scholar ma himself, in the happier days of his inno cence and seclusion in Kapali-vastu, It was made by Visvakaram-no man, the construc tive force of the universe-and is of gold, alloyed with the four other elemental metals, silver, copper, zinc, and iron, symbolical al this world, and it is adorned with diamonds, rubies, lapin-lauli, emeralds, and the unidenti. fied Indranila, which modern dictionaries pro- saically explain as sapphire. This priceless image was given by the King of Magadha to the Chinese Emperor for his timely assistance when the Yavanas were over-running the plains of India. From Peking it was brought as her dowry by Princess Kenjo in the seventh century. The crown was undoubtedly given by Tiong-kapa himself in the early part of the fifteenth century, and the innumerable golden ornaments which heap, the Khil-kor before the image are the presents of pious Buddhists from the earliest days to the present time. Among them are 22 large butter-lamps, eight of a somewhat smaller size, 12 bowls,| two "Precious Wheels of the law," and a multitude of smaller articles, all of the same metal.

there is an unexplored wealth which it may be many years before a second visitor will have the privilege of inspecting, or the know. ledge to appreciate. The great eleven-faced Shen-no-zig, the "precious" image of Tsong. kapa, the innumerable figures of divine NEW IRON teachers, eich symbolically representing the spiritual powers with which he was endowed: great series of the disciples of Buddha, the statue of the Guru Rimpoche, the usual "cham her of horron," and hundreds of other objects, each worthy of the great Pantheon of Lamaism
all these must for the moment remain un- noticed. But the longer one stays within these strange and scared, courts, the more amazing does the contrast appear between the priceless riches and the historic sanctity of their con. tents and the squalid exterior of the most scared structure in all the vast domain of Buddhism. Yet the face of the Buddha re mains the dominant impression of the whole,

The gems are not, perhaps, up to the standard of a European market so far as one could see, the emeralds were large, but flawed, and, as is of course inevitable, the pearls, though of considerable size, were lustre less; but it would be difficult to surpass the xquisite workmanship of everything connected with this amazing image, and a closer inspec tion did but increase the impression of opul- Fence.
