The pills acted like magic. I had been ill in bed for a month, and commencing with one pill after each meal I steadily improved. How is it that one man can "shake off" an illness where another cannot? The difference all a question of vitality; vitality is a ques tion of blood. Mr. Roberts "had been depressi ed and languid for weeks," he says, when he finally broke down: and no wonder, when his days were diseased and he had sunk into such a low state that dropsy had come on. What enabled him to shake off the disease was Dr. Will sims pink pills, of which the peculiar merit is that they make new blood. They gave him the necessary vitality. They will give it to all who need new blood and new strength, and it is in this way that they have cured 10 many cases of anemia, bile, consump tion, fité, rheumatisms, St. Vitus' dance, indiges- tion, and even paralysis--simply b'making new blood, & close observer can see them giving now strength, better appetite, and fresh vitality with avery dote,
A NOTE OF WArning-All who wish 10 avail themselves of the advantages proved to be possessed by Dr. Williams' Pink Pills for Pale People should take care that they obtain the genuine pilis, and no other. Substitutes, which do not bear Dr. Williams' name, are useless. Dr. Williams Medicins Company, Holborn Viaduct, London, will send a bottle post free for as. qd, or six for 131. gd. They do not offer free samples. Dr. Williams' Pink Pills aro a serious medicine, recommended to seri ous people. No one can judge of their eflect by a slagle dose: they are not a pur gative or opening medicine. On the other hand, no one can fail to see the bencât they rive who will take a full bottle following the directions for use, and watch the effect.

Removal work at Canton River Barriers precautions to be observed by passing vessals.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that removal work at the Canton River Barriers will shortly commence, and that, with a view to avoid endangering the lives of those engaged on it, the following rules should be observed by passing vessels,
1. When a red and white dag [International H.] is shown from a barrier, or from a boat in the neighbourhood of a barrier, it will indicate that the wash of a steamer is liable to endanger life and property.
Under these circumstances a steamer should pass that neighbourhood at as slow a speed as possible.
2. When a red flag is shown from a barrier or from a boat in the neighbourhood it will indicate that a vessel must not, so long as that flag is flying, attempt to pass the barrier.
This latter is an emergency signal to meet possible contingencies.
