THE FIGHTING AT MOTIENLING.

GENERAL KUROKI'S REPORT. From the detailed report of General Kazoki on the recent fighting in the vicinity of Molien Piss, it appears that the Japanese resumed the pursuit of the Russian forces which attacked the Japanese positions on the previous day. The second attack, however, was not made by the Russians, as unofficially reported. General Karoki reports:--

"A column of the Army Corps dispatched a body of infantry to check the Russian forces consisting of infantry and cavalry, which were taking possession of a position in the direction of Shatenshi, west of Kansho, which is fifty

things. The killed and wounded carried away by the Russians exceeded a thousand.

Of the Commercial Laws compiled by this Board those relating to Companies are of the first importance. Whenever a company, associa tion, or factory, obtained registration at our [89 Board the benefits to be conferred and which ought to be securedare such as will follow upon the removal of the long standing evils of disorga- instruc-nization, an I the want of co-operation between officials and merchants, the result of which will be that trade will daily make the most rapid advancement. Although the laws relating to companies have now been in operation but a short time, already there has been a constant succession of applications made both by foreign and Chinese merchants for registration at this Board.
