In fact, the importation of Mexicans into the Philippines bas absolutely crased. One of the reasons for this is that it ceases to be a legal tender on January 1, according to an act of the Commission; but the main reason is, that it is generally known, the bankers of Manila, in order to aid the Government in the promulgation of the new currency, have pro- mised Governor Taft not to receive Mexican on deposit after the first of the year.
