De Wet's Book on the War,
London, November goth, De Wet's book on the late war in South Africa, which is dedicated to "my fellow subjects of the British Empire," has heen published. It is severely critical, but not acrimonious. It disparages Lord Roberts' generalship, which it declares" was lacking in- ⚫ foresight: General Buller had to face by far the more difficult task. It apparently re spects Lord Kitchener, but dubs his block- house system the block-head system. It
ridicales the British scouting. It alleges British barbarities against women, children, and the aged, and although cases are not specified, it says proofs can be produced in hundreds. It concludes with an appeal to the Boers to be loyal to Great Britain..
