It is a sign of the times when we hear that Captain de Richelieu who bas so long been connected with the Royal Siamese Navy and who rendered invaluable service to the King and country, in that Department for a long period, and also › another prominent offi- cinl, Captain K. de Lerche and some other European officers, are resigning from service in the Siamese Navy,
These gentlemen deserve well of Bian, having rendered Yoeman service to her King, and now they retire for some reasons better known to themselves. But what is strange, wo bear that their places will not be filled by other Europeans. From this we may conclude that the beginning of the "Orientalization of Siam
is near at hand.

ACCOMMODATION FOR TWO MILLIONS,
The following interesting estimates appear in the Pall Mall Gazelle
How many persons are likely to witness the Royal procession through London on the day after the Cormation? This question, often asked, is extremely difficult to answer but
some idea of the accommodation that will be at the disposal of the public may be gathered, writes a special correspondent, from informa- tion for which I am indebted to several officials, surveyors, contractors, and builders. WRIGHT OF THE TIMBER,
An experienced contractor expressed the opinion that 110 tons of timber would seat 1,000 persons on the average; therefore, to stat 167,360 would require 18,137 tons. To grasp the figures, the reader may imagine a proces- sien of 18,000 horses through London, each drawing one. ton, every catt being separated by a yard, which, would extend from Charing Cross to Southampton:"
