THERAPION. This succesful and highly popular remedy, as employed in the Continental Hospitals by Ricord, Kostan, Jabert, Velpeau, and others, combines ail the desiderata to be sought in a medicine of the kind, and surpasses everything hitherto employed.
THERAPIÓN No. 1, in a few days only, removes all discharges from the urinary organs, effectually superseding injections, the use of which does irreparable harm by laying the
foundation of stricture and other serious dis- eases. In dysentery, piles, irritation of the lower bowel, cough, bronchitis, asthma, and some of the more trying complaints of this -kind, it will be found astonishingly efficacious, affording prompt relief where other well-tried remedies have been powerless.
It was decided to address the British Consul- General at Shanghai and Sir Jas. Mackay direct on the subject.
DESTRUCTIONS TO NAVIGATION IN THE CANTON RIVER.
It was abnounced that copies of the Memo. randum by Capt. Lloyd were, with covering. letters, sent on the 18th April' to II.E. the British Minister at Peking and to Sir jas Mackay. A letter was also addressed to the Canton Chamber on the 4th April requesting its co-operation in taking steps to secure the removal of the obstraction in the Canton River. A letter of thanks had also been addressed to Capt. Lloyd.
Read reply from the Canton Chamber 're- ceived on the 19th April stating that they would co-operate with the Chamber for this
purpose with much pleasure.
Also read reply from Sir James Mackay to the effect that the question was receiving his
attention.

THE SINGAPORE CHAMEER AND THE
CORONATION CALEURATION, The Chairman said that in redemption of a promise made on the 6th January last, a letter was, on the 24th April, addressed to the Singa- pore Chamber ráf Commerce giving the principal features of the programme to be observed here on the celebration of the Corona- tion of King Edward VII.
PROPOSAL TO LICENSE CHINESE PILOTS. Read letter, dated 2nd May, from Mr. E. Osborne, Secretary of the Hongkong and Kow- leon Wharf and Goodown Company, Ld., bringing to notice the great risks run by ship owners and wharf owners through the employ. ment of uncottificated Chinese pilots, and proposing that the Governinent should be asked to license these pilots, the Chamber being requested to lay the matter before the Government.
Mr Wilcox thought it was decidedly a ques- tion for the Chamber to take up. The Chinese engineers had been compelled to take out certificates, and this had resulted in a belter class of men being employed.
Mr. Hewelt was of the same opinion and thought it was very necessary that competent. men should be secured as pilots.
After some discussion,
It
It was unanimously decided to address the Government on the subject and suggest the advisability of granting certificates to pilots so that control can be exercised over them.
