PAYMASTER-IN-CHIEF FREDERICK LEWIS MAITLAND DYERS, R.N., died on
20th February at Plymouth. He was a mid- shipman of the Calcutta during the Chind wär of 1856-57, during which he was engaged at the capture of the Bogue forts and the blockade of the Canton River Passing into the clerical branch of the Navy, he was appointed assistant paymaster in 1864, and retired in 1899 with the tank of Paymaster-in-Chief, "
