Mrs. PowELL will arrive accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir CYPRIAN BRIDGE, K.C.B., Rear Admiral GRENFELL, C.M.G. and, Commo dorePOWELL, C.B., with theirstaffs, and as they approach the landing stage the band will play a selection. THE MARVELLOUS GROWTH seaward of Dungeness Point, caused by the eastward drift "of shingle, has led to the necessity for the erection of a new lighthouse there, and the contract has been placed with a Deal firm 'to carry out the work for £9,000. This will be the third lightbouse erected upon Dungeness Point. The graving dock will be 55oo with a depth of 30 feet inch of water at lowest spring tide on the entrance olil.
The total area to be occupied by the new works is 391 acres. The walls are to be constructed of concrete blocks and aggregate 4,580 feet in length. With the exception of the graving dock, which will be built in the dry within cofferdams, all the work is being built under water.
