THE NEW FRENCH REMEDY.
It
THERAPION.
This succesful and highly popular remedy, as employed in the Continental Hospitals by Ricord, Rostan, Jobert, Velpeau, and others, medicine of the kind, and surpasses everything combines all the desiderata to be sought in a hitherto employed.
THERAPION No. 1, in a few days only, removes all discharges from the urinary organs, effectually superseding injections, the use of which does irreparable harm by laying the foundation of stricture and other serious dis- eases. In dysentery, piles, irritation of the lower bowel, cough, bronchitis, asthma, and some of the inore trying complaints of this kind, it will be found astonishingly efficacious, affording prompt relief where other well-triet remedies have been powerless.
THERAPION No. 2, for impurity of the blood, scurvy, pimples, sputs, blotches, pains and swellings of the joints, secondary symp toms, disease of the bones, sore throat, and all diseases for which it has been too much a fashion to employ mercury, sarsaparilla, &c., to the destruction of the sufferer's teeth and ruin of health. This preparation purifies the whole system through the blood, and throughly eliminates every poisonous malfer from the .body.

REMARKABLE SUICIDE AT
MANILA.
a
Thomas Brown, seaman on board the British barque Kelverdale, committed suicide lately at Manila in a marvellous manner. He had been confined in the forecastle for threatening to kill certain persons on board. His wrists were ironed, but he was allowed the use of his legs stout rope to a He managed to tie balt projecting from the wall above the bench on which he was sitting. His next move was to tie a slip noose and encircle his neck with the hemp. He then slipped from the bench and in this manner secured slightly over a two feet drop that was sufficient to cause his death by strangulation. Wher discovered, the greater part of his body was stretched full length on the floor, but the head was held by the toe in nearly an upright position about two feet from the floor. Hi features were composed and there were ne apparent signs of struggle or agony. For his position it was evident that, had he desired to regain the ben h after he touched the floor, it would have been impossible to do so, as bi manacled arms were in front of his body.
