IGNORANCE IS, BLISS.-Examination of statistics relating to the population of Hong-. kong reveals the extraordinarily high infant mortality amongst the Chinese community, says the Hospial.. It seems hardly possible to believe that out of every 1,000 Chinese bain in the colony, only seventy-two survive the first. year of existence. This is what, however, the reports on statistics show. Definite sanitary regulations are gradually improving the condi tion of Hongkong, but apparently it needs other steps also if the Chinese population is to be preserved
