Considerable expense was incurred in repair. ing the Club Matshed, which was blown down twice by typhoons, early in the season,
A large number of interesting and closely contested matches were played under Associa tion and Rugby rules, and the form shown by the players was, il anything, better than that of previous years.
The Six-a-side Challenge Cup was won by Mr.-A. R. Lowe's team. Mr W. H. H ward
kindly presented six medals to the winning
tcam.
The Club team was defeated in the third round of the Shield Competition by "H" Com pany, R.W.F., by 3 goals io r.
Seventeen team entered for the Shield Com-

The dig. trict magistrate boasts of the number of heads he has taken off, but it is generally believed that if you will only pay the price, you may do what you like in this district. Both the U. S. and the British Consula have asked for the removal of this official, but he seems to be able to hold his own against all odds.

From the comments of the Liberal papers it now appears conclusive, that the late Mr. Schnadhorst, the Liberal organizer, accepted £5,000 from Mr. Rhodes. The Spectator itself repudiates this version and charges the Liberal party with accepting a bribe. ARRESTING A SOLDIER'S WIFE,
