Tax Shitaya hospital of the Imperial University was destroyed by fire at 5.40a.m. on the 29th ult says the Japan Daily Mail, The fire had its origin in an explosion which occurred in the disinfecting room. There were 95 patients in the hospital. They could not all be saved and it is feared that there has been heavy loss of life. Up to noon, aineteen bodies. bad been dug out of the ruins. Two women were found lying aide by side, one of them a nurse. The terrible nature of this incident has shocked the whole city. With the exception' of the contagious diseases section, the whole hospital was reduced to ruing.
