THE DALLAS CO.'S ARRIVAL TO-DAY.
Today at 10.45 the Dallas Company arrived in the Sjenmuir from Manila where they have just concluded a successful season. Owing to some error in the cablegram booking the Theatre, Mr. Dallas' opening has not been announced to take place until Thursday next whereas he opens to-morrow Tuesday night with the musical piece A Runaway Girl" which drew such packed and enthusiastic audiences when produced Inst by Mr. Dallas. Owing to the very limited season (Mr. Dallas sails for Home on the 16th inst, via America) "A Runaway Girl" can only be performed for one night. On Wednesday the Company will not perform and on Thursday "The 'Geisha" will be staged as originally "conounced. Mr. Dallas' return visit to Hongkong, where his company is so highly esteemed, should prove highly successfit and crowded houses ought to prove the rule, We hear rumours of the pa duction of an entirely, new musical piece, not played by this company before. This is certain to attract a large crowd if Mr. Dallas sees his way to staging it. The charming Society Comedy's

NOBBERY,
A dastardly assault with robbery was com mitted yesterday morning about half past six.
A young Eumpean lady has been in the habit of walking in the mornings through the Public Gardens. Yesterday she entered them by the Upper Road leading from Glenealy she had just passed the wn pillars there when she met two respectably dressed China. men, who in pretence of patting her dog approached her. One of the ruffians seized hold of her, and in spite of her offering them her money, the other dealt ber a severe blow on the back of her ear which rendered her abconscious. She was discovered afterwards by some Portuguese gentlemen and when she regained her senses she found that she had been robbed of all her jewellery, worth about So We understand that a description of it has been given to the Police.
The brutes were not content with robbery. The young lady bashk eyes blacked, besitles several blows about the head and face.
It is quite apparent that these thieves must Ive been watching for this opportunity for a long time, and it not at all unlikely that they belong to that gang of robbers of defenceless people for which our Colony is gradually be coming famous.

The message was received with tremendous cheering, which was heartily reponded to by the bluejackets on board the cruiser.
This is not an individual case, there were three or four of the same kind at the latter end of last year, when it was pointed out that there were not enough European policemen to thoroughly patrol the upper roads. An attempt was nude io procure thirty more constables from England and advertisements were put in the English papers. Only two applications were received and just recently the discrepancy has been made up by drafting Marines to do duty as police.

SINGAPORE, 30th April.
On Bunday a tiffin was given by over thirty of the members of the Singapore Club to Capt.
Percy Scott, C.B. and officers H.M.S. Terrible,*| of whom about twenty-eight accepted the pro- ffered hospitality, including Capt. Scott him- self.
The Chair was taken by the Hon'ble W. R. Collyer. The proceedings were naturally of a private character, and all that is permissible to be said is that, after the loyal toast of "The Queen," Mr.Collyer proposed the health of Capt. Scott and his officers in a very happy speech, terse and to the point. This was received with enthusiasm, Capt. Scott in his reply was quite delightful, but modest above all. The simple away from Natal perfect gluttons for fight, and fact appears to be that the Terribles have come if anybody anywhere in the Far East can arrange a shindy in which the Terribles can have a show, he will earn the undying gratitude
