ANOTHER MURDER IN KOWLOON.

SHOCKING DISCOVERY.

Nothing further was done in the scoring lina. till the whistle brought the game to A standstill with the score goal each,

A hard fight was expected in the and half, but from the time the whistic sounded, the issue was never in doubt.. "G" Company had settled down into their old style of play, and , although: "H" still kept to their old bustling tactics they were unable to break up the excell- eni combination of the former team.

Cheatle and Williams were playing a capital game on the right wing, and before long their . efforts were rewarded. Chentle received tha ball from Boulton, but being hard pressed, self, made so mistake by sending in a shot banded over to Williams, who steadying hini- that nearly pulled the net down. "H", Company now tried hard to make matters even, and from a break away, Graham ought certainly to have made a better show than he did. He had a clear goal in front of him but his shot was badly judged and the bail went wide. From the kick-out, Pounall sent hangfed in, but for the second time was ruled the leather right into the mouth of goal, Cheatle

stopping.

A MUTILATED BODY. At the latter end of last week, while a party from the Hongkong Regiment were at work on the Rifle range, one of the workmen snelt a most obnoxious adour. Suspecting that the stench emanated from a decomposing body, he obtained an order for the Public thoroughfore to be stopped while investigations were being made. Close to the range is a shallow trench or ditch which drains the range. The smell seemed to issue from this ditch, which at that time was covered with a few inches of water. The party of workmen started to dig and very soon came upon a most revolting spectacle, the body of an Indian soldier, too far decomposed to be dentified. Identification was, however, afterwards established by a charm, worn round deceased's neck, which was recognised as Boulton, headed belonging to Fakir Khan, a private in the Hongkong Regiment. There were unmistake. able signs of foul play on the body, there being no less than five bullet wounds in the lower region of the abdomen, the bottom of the back portion of the crainium fearfully shattered, besides knife wounds on the calves and other parts of the body. Information was at once conveyed to Colonel Retallick and the police were informed. Mr. Gompertz, acting Police and held a postmonem examination, but the Magistrate, went over to Kowloon last Saturday date of the enquiry has not yet been settled. There is at present no clue to the murderer but it is alleged that the man was unpopular- among his comrades, having been accused of theft.

The game was a remarkably fair one and but for the one instance, fairly free from fouls. Smart's behaviour was certainly very unsports. manlike and the referee did quite right in ordering him off the field.

"H Company were greatly, weakened by helped, and they made a very creditable show this regrettable incident, but is could not be

withstanding their misfortune.

Whitney played a fine game in goal and stopped some hard shots. Shiels played a good game at ceatro forward and the goal he got

was a beauty.

Of the remainder, Waller played the best game and his tackling was from time to time loudly applauded. Everybody will agree that the best team won.

"G" Company showed combination worthy of a first league team, throughout the game, each man knew his place, the result of good training on the captain's (Cheatle's) part," Chealle and Boulton deserve great praise for the manner in which they have brought the team through this season, and there can be not doubt that the shield has come home with the right team.

After the match Miss Hancock presented- the shield and medals, to the winning team with. the assistance of Mr. Looker H. K. F. C. Sgt. Chentle afterwards, presented the lady with a beautiful

bouquet, at the. same time thanking her in very appropriate words for her kindness in consenting to perform the most important office of the season. Mr. Looker then called for cheers for the, ladies; which were heartily accorded by all present. The shield now rests with "G" Company. It is to be hoped that the regiment will be able to stay another 12 months in this station when no doubt there will be more hard competitions for the coveted trophy.
