It is reported that the natives in Kwong Chow Bay had another skirmish with the French, in which they again were victorias, the French have now ained on Su Kon Pawong Mee-chenng (Marshall Su) and on pretence of having some private business to transact with him they got him into their power also obtaining posses. sin of three Chinese guabeats. They had pre- viously only demanded a few hundred square tiles, but have now increased their le mands, by wanting the surrender of the fort in Sui Ki district, and their boundaries to extend on the north to the Wo Se hills, on the West to the Man Lin bridge, south, from the Lui Chow Road to Tong Ming Kong and an island on the east coast. There are a great number of vil ages within this area, having a total population of over to,000. Some of the natives, however, would not accede to the French and again given them battle, and there were so many Skirmishes that the mandarin's were obliged to interfere and stop the fighting..

When Marshal Sn arrived, the elders of the their villages petitioned him to protect villages and threatened that sooner than let the French be their masters they would dash their own brains out. It is not yet know how the Marshat will scule the matter as China is in a very unsettled state besides especting attacks from other European powers.
