It possesses an extremely high de
gree of organic purity and is "of most excellent quality for "drinking."
:
During the Summer Months, all ÆRATED WATERS should be kept in a cool place, preferably in ao Tex CHEST or REFRIGERATOR, until required for use. The Bottles should be stored with the necks downward so that the corks are covered by the water. This will prevent an escape of gas taking place and rendering the waters more or less flat.

The want of rich a relage must, I think, ba evident to all, but I would like to point out what appear to me to be some of the chiel reasons.
The prerent refuge at Causeway Bay is far, too small to accommodate anything like the number of small craft using the harbour.
The greater perilon of it has become so silted. up that it is dry at low water and therefore avaliable for only very shallow draft boats,

They would not require any towing to reach this refuge. It would to situated mach nearer the bulk of the shipping than Canteway Bay,
I am confident such a refogo would materially assist fa the work of the barbour during the typhoon season, and also be the means of saving many boats and perhaps lives from being lost in bad weather.

Hongkong, Sept. 15th, 1898. SIR-A suggestion has been made to the Committee of this Chamber for the formation of a Harbour of Refage west of the Slaughter House for the accommedailon of smail cralt during the summer galen.
The prescat refuge behind the Breakwater in
G Causeway Bay is gradually sliting up, and even now barely affords the necessary accommodation for native craft. It is situated at the extreme esat of the harbour, from which direction the prevail- lng storms come, and must either ba soaght at the earliest stage of threatening weather or the bosis using it must be towed by steam-faunch, both costly and uncertato.

Arefage stunted west would, on the other hand, be accessible in almost any weather by vessela under wall, and they could defer seeking it to a- later period than the existing refuge, thus saying lossal time and laconvenience to themselves and- the shipping generally. Its closer proximity to the centre of the harbont, where the work of tranehipment and landing is mainly carried on, would necessarily prove a great convenience,
Mr. R. K. Leigh, C.E., who has made the shove suggestion, is of opinion that a Refuge could be formed by constructing Breakwsiet Arm from Slaughter House Pafat about 400. yarde in length, which would he estimates, gival an area of some eighty acres with deep water throughout, or considerably larger than that: now in use at Causeway Bay,
The Committee are strongly of opinion that this suggestion merita careful consideration, ike mero so sluce the Refuge at Causeway Bay, already limited ln area, will goon be entirely in- adequate for the purpose, and they therefore commend the scheme to the favourable atter.. tion of the Government.
