It is proposed to erect some memorial to the Iste Misses Ireland and Higgin. Their work for the Colony, at the Government Civil Ho spital, extended over a period of nearly eight | years; they lost their lives while in the per- formance of their datlas.

On the afternoon of 25th ultimo, at about 5.30, a fire broke out at a rugman's house No. 16 Kajiyacho, Nisblastoin, Kioto. After fire houses had been destroyed the firemen retired, ull dänger appearing to be over.
