I see I stated in the Telegraph of reth inst. that the Acting Secretary of the Sanitary Board b informed you "that rinderpest exists at the present time at Macao, Canton and along the delta of the West River, but that every poulblá precaution is being taken by the officers of the Sanftury Board to piaveat the Importation of lafec'ed meat into the markets of this colony" I'm glad to bear precaptions are now belog taken to prevent fafected mest getting into the markets of the colony. Ia view, however, of ibe fact that you published a half-colama report from my pen weeks ago ander the head-line "Cattle Disease in Kwangtung," wherein I stated clearly that battle were then dying In great numbers in the Delts, near Whampos and about Canton, and that there had been heavy martality for some time part, it would be interesting to know why what Mr. Whitehead so aplly terms "the emasculated remnant of the Sanitary Board" has only now sẹl about doing this important duty.

It is a fact, 100,-and I regret to have lo re port the fact that tladerpest has carried off several head of fine cows in Mr. Lladberg's dairy in the Shameen. Much sympathy is felt for Mr. Liedberg who is a careful, conscientious, and painstaking man. He has taken great paloi to develop the dairy, has turned in good divi. dends to the shareholders and the trouble in certally dae to no isck of care and attentica on his part. I wish him a happy issue out of his difficulties and believe, he will pull through all right.
