is committing great ravages both at that port and farther up country, while besides the plague, of which hundreds are dying delly, cholera or a kind of fever has broken out to which a great number of natives have succumbed in less than 24 hours from the time of their being attacked,
The European settlement on the bland of Kalangsa is, however, quite free of the plague at present, the forelgo Consuis and the community generally having taken, measures to prevent the lotroduction of the disease by placing watchmen at the different landings.

I asked him to be careful where he'was ridlog.bia tricycle, but the anly reply I got was, "I like to run lato saldier." As he was about to repeat this splendid performance for the ed icatlon of Indy, who had in the meantime arrived on the scene, I caught held of the handle-bars of his machine to restrain I had to stoon & little, when he knocked bim from rundlag late me, and in dolog so
to pick up my cap he deliberately track me my cap from eff my head. We should like to have a look at the other side of the shield, and to have the story frora the other parties concerned. We cannot be lleve that our correspondent invented the in cident, and it appears to need explanation. EL, H.K.T.)
