DISASTER.
RECOVERY OF CAPT. LANG'S BODY. Now, nearly half a year after the tragedy of their death, it is learned that the bodies of Capt. You will remember that in a previous letter I told you of a horribly cold-blooded morder of an old woman named Lyfeld, near Port Fairy (Vic) Her death came by strangulation and the husband was arrested for the crime. Mr. Snell, amarited daughter of Lyfeld, now bas informed the police that she assisted her father to kill the deceived, he having threatened her Itle if she did not aid him. She says that while poor old woman was kneeling at her bedsida saying her prayers, Lyfield caught hold of her, pat a string round her neck, and dragged her to the floor, pulling the string tightly round her neck. Mrs. Lyfield screamed loudly and struggled to free herd. Mrs. Snell then, by his orders, grasped berrel, while Lyfeld pet the jacket over ber her stepmother, and Lyfsld strock his wife two or three blows on the mouth with his fist. He seized stonebreaker's haramer and struck Mrs. Lyfeld with it on the nape of the neck. His wife was dead before ha consed to strike ber.
