We much regret the Iss from our Board (by death) of Mr. Poon Pong, who since the starting of the Company had been one of its most active supporters. Now, gentle men, before ziking you to adopt the report and accdunts, I shall be pleased to answer xay question:

The Chaliman (after a pause)As there are no questions, I beg to move that the report and statement of scenants to 30th June bo adopted.

This was seconded by Mr. Cox and carried.. The Chairman:-The next business before the meeting is the election of a consulting com mittee. I am sorry to say that at the present time we are without a board. The death of Mr. Poon Pong and the d parture of Mr. Coughtria from the colony leaves us without a georum. Mr. Gillen is still a member of the Board, but be absent. Mr. Ewens accepted a seat but does not care to remain. I wish you would propose some one to take the places of Meters, Poon Pong and Coughtile.

Mr. Deacon: What is your number, Mr. Chairman.

The Chairman :-By the Articles of Associa- tion we require not less than two, but we hare always had no less than three. Mr. Ewens does not care to be re-elected, but I think he would consent to remala,

Mr. Ewens I look upon a consulting com-- milles as a totally unnecessary expense la s. company like this. I think it should be abolished, and everything be left to the hinds of the General Manager,

Mr. Cox Most Mr. Ewans be re-elected to remain on the Beard? Cannot he resign if he ..wishes?

The Chairman-Yes. (continulag.) As no one has been proposed, and I am not in a post- tion to mention any ore, 1 propose, lo accordance with the Articles of Association, that we adjour for one week. I may say that I asked Mr. Cook to take Mr. Gillies' plice pro tem and also asked Mr. Firman to join, but they were both too busy to do so. I may mention that the great difficulty Ista find who are shareholders and who are not, We have the names of many people on the register who are not shareholders.

Before departing I would-move that Mr. J. H. Cox, who has audited our accounts this yesi, bo re-elected.

Seconded by Mr. Carvalho and carried.

The Chairman :-Gentlemen, there is no further business. Im at ask you to meet here agalp on Saturday next at noon. I hope then you will be able to propose some one for the Consulting committee.

Lendos, November 16th. The present diepste between Great Britala and Venezuela is of very long standing. It dates hack in the year 1814, when, by the Treaty of Paris, England acquired the Dolch possessinnu of Demerara, Eastquibo and Berbice. With regard to Damerata and Berbice no question bas arisen, but the Essequibe being a tiver, the Venezuelans have questioned" whether bath banks were la the possession of the - Dutch at the time of the surrender of the colony, or only one," The British view is that the frontier. acquired by this country in 1813 marked by the extreme limit of the watershed of all rivers flowing loto the Eurecalbo, but between this limit and the so-called Schomburgk lise we are willing to pat the definition of the boundary to arbitration, THE Canadian Pacific Railway Co.h steamship

In the early part of this year, a small force of British police having been instructed to remora the Ventzdelan flag, the British poffed silicers were arrested by the Venezuelan authorities. and carried into Venezuelan territory. After an explanation the British police officers were liberaled and seat back. The act of the Vess. zucien authorities is, however, one for which the British Government naturally expects that reparation shall be made, and the fact that such aggression was possible upon British soil is in ftelf sufficient indication of the urgent necerity for a speedy settlement of the boundary question. It is, however, only with a view to obtaining reparation for the recent outrage that Lord Salisbury has now addressed an ultimatum to the Venezuelan Government.

The Central News says there has been no fresh development either at the Admiralty or at the-Foreign Office in connection with the Venezuelan question, nor is anything of Import- ance likely to happen for another week or two, as ample time will be given in which to receive the reply of the Government at Caricas. As the two parties chiefly concerned, are not commaulcating directly with each other, the time allowed for the work of diplomacy must necessarily be longer than is meal, despite the fact that the palats in dispute in this instance are neither new nor specialty complex.

The action of the British Government with regard to the ill-treatment of the British Guiana police by Venezuelada has no connection what- ever with the despatch from the United States Government communicated some time ago by Mr. Bayard to Lord Salisbury regarding the Venezuelan boundary, and to which no reply has as yet been given.
