Sheng, the Total of Shanghai, and nephew of It Hang chang, has been found guilty of the grossest peculation, and of supplying the troops with worthless rifles, Li Hong-chang wa furious at the discovery, and in dis lodignation slapped Sheng's face.

Earl Grey is dead. [Henry Grey, K. G, was born December 28th, 1802, the eldest son of the late Earl, who was Fremler in 1830-14; he was educated at Trinity College, Cambildge, and, as Lord Howick, was returned to the House of Commons In 1816, as member for Winchelsen, in for Higham Ferrars; at the genersi 11 1830 election of 1831 for Northumberland and, after the parsing of the Reform Bill, for the northern division of that county.
