THE JUDGMENT.
After expressing the thanks of the Court to the counsel on either side, and to the Recorder, for their alatance, the President stated that he and his colleagues had given the in the fullest and most careful consideration, and it was to be hoped that their decision would be accepted as fin. He then referred to the position occupied by Phrs Yet at Kammoun previous to M. Luce's arrival, and commented upon the terms under which he evacuated the province. Phra Yot, he said, formally and properly protested against his expulsion, and was then sent away under M. Grosgurin's escort. At Kieng-chek Grongorin arrested Luang Anuraks, and refused to release him even when teld that he was committing a breach of the treaty. Then Phra Yot obtained reinforcements, and set to work to obtain Antraks' release. A patient and careful review of the evidence given on either side showed that in the sight which eived the French and the Siamese suffered pretty equally, because, according to M. Luce's own account, Grosgurin had only 10 men with him, and someescaped. With regard to the charge of robbery the Court had to bear in mind that Capt. Grosgurin had refused to restore the property belonging to Phrs Vot's party before Outhene was reached, and that it was in the board when the fight began, and the fire brake out The accused was not likely to take messures which would involve the destruction of his own goods, by ordering the house to be set on fire, and there was no clear evidence of any subsequent losting, as Boon Chin had failed to Identify slagte Sumese as having
