The British bark Velocity reports that she left Honolulu on the 31st August. Had steady trades and fine weather to the Ladrones. On the 2nd and 3rd instant, in lat, zo north and long. 134 east, encountered a typhoon, wind from north-north-east, which hauled to the westward, and finished at south. Birometer lowest reading a 39:30. Lost several anils. From the 3rd to port bad fine weather; for four days a calm in the China Sea.
The British steamship Tholes reports that she left Taiwanfoo on the ith instant, Amoy on the rab, and Swatow on the 13th. From Talwanfoo to Amoy experienced strong north-east winds with considerable sea and cloudy weather. From
Amoy to Swatow, and also to Hongkong had moderate north-west winds and cloudy weather.
