·A VERY daring robbery was attempted at Raub on the 8th last, and ended fatally for the burglar. On the night in questión a Chinemin gained entrance to the room occupied by Mt. Whyte, chief assistant to Mr. Bibby, and his wife, and endeavoured to carry off a box. Mrs. Warte was the first to awaken, and informed her husband that there was someone in the room. Mr. Whyte promptly grappled with the thief, who was armed with a knife and revolver, and wrested the former from him. THIRE was a large attendance at the wild beast show at West Polat on Saturday night, and the performance was most satisfactory to both the audience and Professor Max, who again escaped alive.
