VIENNA, August folk. The waterspout of Saturday committed terrible ravages in Styria. The town of Gocaling was nearly ruined, and handreda narrowly escaped with their lives. It is stated on the bighest authority that the Government has decided to hold an inquiry into the causes which led to the capsizing of the Vittoria after she had been in collision with the Camperdown. This is to be done in order to relieve doubt whether the caprising was due to defective design and construction or to the fact that the water-tight compartments were not completely closed.
The inquiry will take the form of either a Parliamentary committee or of a commission of inquiry similar to that which investigate the Tay bridge disaster. The minutes of the court. meris on the survivors of the Videria in the meantime are to be presented to Parliament. It is not yet definitely decided whether Admiral Markham or Captain Johnson is to be court manialed for hazarding the safety of the Camper

The British cruiser Forth rammed the British steamer Kirkby. A big hole was knocked in the Kirkby's port side amid-ships, through which the water rushed in is immense valames Some of her compartments filled with water, but the undamaged compartments kept her affat. The Kirkby was towed to port by the Forth.
Officiel returns show a great Increase in cholera in Russia during the past week. In twelve provinces there were 1953 vew cases and 710 deaths. In Moscow city there was an average of thirty cases and fiiteen deaths dilly.

M. Lockroy, the former Cabinet Minister, was fired at yesterday by a man named Moore, a materions socialist. Moore stopped Lockroy and demanded a loan of ten francs. He was refused whereupon he rushed at Leckroy la fury, and Bred at his right breast with a revolver.
Lockroy fzlated. Hle friends rushed to hit assistance, and found the breast reverely braised but not pierced by the ball. The wounded man was taken home and Moore was arrested.
Upon making a careful examination of the wounded man the surge as found his flash badly turn, but they could not say if the bullet had lodged in the body,

and September, 1893- The beat of summer seems to have passed away, and instead we are having cool breezes from the north, and refreshingly pleasant mord- Ings and evenings. The visitors a e leaving by almost every sleamer, and in a few weeks we shall have returned to the comparative monotony of Cheloo life. The regatta takes place on the 7th, and the in'erout in the contesta is ladicated by the number of crews that are out practising both morning and evening:
