I quite agree, however, with the hon, member who moved this resolution that a residence at the Peak is an necessary now as it was no years ago and I can certainly from two years' experlines fully confirm what Mr. Beliliod has all to the effect that Craigieburn is utterly inadequate not only for entertainment but for ordinary boa c hold and domestle accommodation. For the staff of servania, boys and coolles, of which at Craigieburn there are 40, it is quite inadegoste. Even on ordinary occasions the space is far too limited for entertaining and it is certaluly gelto impossible to | put up Archdukes---{[aughter)--- foreign Admirals, and the zamerons distinguished visitors who are constantly arriving in this Secretary of State and other parsons at home. I gulto agree also with Mr. Bellllos that as in India, Ceylon, Mauritius, and other Colonies, so in Hongkong I believe that in the future a great many residents will leave the lower levels during the summer and resort to the higher aiṭttudes. When that takes place I hope that the value of property, to which Mr. Chater has referred rather lugubriously, wil revive. I have not gone into the question as thoroughly as Mt. Belilles has done in regard to the economy which would be effected by building a houssirmediate- lysay within two years but as it appears that the unofficial members are ageinst any immt. diata expenditure and as certainly a question of this sort ought not to be made a Government question I would strongly advise the hon mem- ber not to prear his moison to a division, bresuSO I pressed to a division it might put my ancestor In a difficult polion.
